Practical Notes for the Whole Region
- Getting there: we arrange meet-and-greet at Entebbe, Kigali, Nairobi, Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar; regional hops are under 90 minutes.
- Money & tipping: clean post-2009 USD accepted everywhere; tip guides USD 10–20 per day, porters USD 3–5.
- Health: yellow fever certificate required for Uganda and Rwanda and recommended region-wide; carry travel insurance covering gorilla trekking.
- East Africa Tourist Visa: one USD 100 visa covers Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya for 90 days of multiple entries — ideal for cross-border combos. Tanzania issues its own visa.
- Weather: equatorial but mild — long rains March–May, short rains October–November; the low season means lush landscapes, fewer crowds and better rates.
